Installation & Maintenance
Installing a new water heater or replacing an old heater is a fairly basic task. To remove your existing water heater make sure you follow these steps:
If you heater is gas powered make sure you shut-off the gas in your home.
Turn off the water supply in your home and turn all the hot water faucets on to drain any existing water in the pipes.
Disconnect or cut the piping connecting to the water heater.
Once the old tank is removed follow these steps to add the new water heater:
Clean the area where the water heater will be installed.
Re-Connect piping to the new water heater.
Keep the hot water faucets in your home on and turn the water back on. This will help remove any air trapped in the lines.
Maintenance Tips:
Drain your water heater twice a year to get rid of any sediment build-up.
If your water heater has a "vacation mode" setting make sure you use this when you leave for 5 days or more. You will save money on your heating and water bill.
